PDF Editor

Open a PDF and edit it right here in your browser. Add text, fill in forms, drop in images and signatures, highlight, draw shapes and tidy up pages, then download. Most editing runs locally; native text edits use our server and are deleted immediately.

Annotations stay on your device. Native text edits are processed securely and deleted right away.

Edit a PDF online, privately, in your browser

PDFMingo's PDF editor lets you open a document and change it right where you are, with no software to install and nothing uploaded to a server. Add text to a PDF, fill in a form, drop in an image or signature, highlight the important lines, draw shapes and arrows, or rotate and remove pages, then download a clean copy. Because the editing happens on your own device, even sensitive paperwork like contracts, agreements and ID scans stays completely private. Whether you want to annotate a PDF, mark it up, sign it or just add a few words, it all works the same way here, and it's completely free.

The editor keeps things simple: open a PDF of up to 20 pages, see one full page at a time, and use the toolbar to add what you need. You can undo and redo any change, move and resize anything you place, and zoom in to get the details just right. When you're done, your edits are flattened into a normal PDF that opens the same everywhere.

How do I edit a PDF for free?+
Drop in a PDF of up to 20 pages, then use the toolbar to add text, fill in fields, insert an image or signature, highlight lines or draw shapes. Download when you're done. It's free, with no sign-up and no watermark.
Is my PDF uploaded when I edit it?+
Annotation work stays on your device: text boxes, signatures, images, highlights, shapes, form filling and page changes all happen inside your browser. The one exception is editing words that were already printed in the PDF, which needs a server. In that case the file is sent over an encrypted connection to our own server, edited, and deleted immediately afterwards.
Can I edit the existing text in a PDF?+
Yes, when the PDF contains real, selectable text. Click a line and retype it, and the original characters are removed and replaced rather than just covered up. On a scanned document there's no text to edit, so you'd add a new text box on top instead.
Can I sign a PDF online?+
Yes. Add your signature as an image, then move, resize and place it wherever it belongs. Since the placement happens on your device, a signed contract never leaves your computer.
Can I fill in a PDF form?+
Yes. Use the form tool to type into fields, tick checkboxes and pick radio options. It also works on flat forms that were never made fillable, because you can place text anywhere on the page.
Does the eraser really delete text?+
It covers the area with the page colour, which hides it on screen but leaves the text in the file underneath. To take words out properly, edit the text itself, which removes those characters. Never rely on a coloured box alone to hide confidential information.
Why is there a 20-page limit?+
Editing renders each page in full so it stays sharp and responsive. Keeping documents to 20 pages keeps the editor fast on every device. If your file is larger, use our Split PDF tool first and edit a smaller part.
Will the font match when I edit existing text?+
The editor reuses the document's own embedded font wherever it can. If a letter you typed is missing from that font, which is common with subset fonts, you get a short list of close visual matches to pick from so the line still blends in.
What do I get when I download?+
A normal PDF with your changes flattened into the pages, so it looks identical in every reader and nobody can drag your signature or text box out of place.
Is there a watermark or sign-up?+
No watermark and no sign-up. It's free, and your finished PDF comes out clean.
Does it work on mobile, Windows and Mac?+
Yes, in any modern browser on phone, tablet, Windows, Mac or Linux, with nothing to install. On a touchscreen you can pinch to zoom and tap an item twice to edit it.
